Repetition is a comfort. We can, as humans, fall too deeply into the comfort of it. Change gets scary. Even when the habit is kinda terrible...
Enter the Mantra and the Mala.
Or, a Mala and a Mantra walk into a bar...
In just over a months time we will be hitting the start of the holiday season. Stress. Thanksgiving, Winter Holidays, New Year... and boom. Stress, expectations, the comfort of pie (we all love pie) and we fall into old habits. Maybe not so good habits.
There is time to institute some new ones before we get into this next cycle.
Decide on one change that would be beneficial for you in the upcoming months. Once you have that create a positive statement about it. An example would be "I'm a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar". Yes, I completely stole this from Serenity (a movie created to make up for the early cancellation of an amazing television series. I'm not bitter) and I'm not sorry.
Moving past my digression, use your Mala to count out a recitation of this mantra over the next 21 days (science says this is how long we need to establish a habit) in place of or as part of your meditation practice. Set the intention to practice that action daily.
I'm pretty certain this is Mala use #27. ;)
I'm working on the practice of letting go. My mantra is "I learn from but do not hold to the past". Just so you know you are not alone in this activity.
